PEACEMAKING

A Framework for First Nations Peacemaking

The Australian Institute for Facilitative Practice has developed a comprehensive framework for First Nations peacemaking initiatives across Australia. This framework seeks to provide a blueprint for fostering respectful, inclusive, and enduring involvement of First Nations People in the management of conflict impacting on their lives, and their communities.

Introduction

Purpose

The Framework for First Nations Peacemaking (or “FFNP”) informs the minimum requirements for training, continuing development, and practice of First Nations Peacemaking Practitioners (or “Peacemakers”) in Australia.

Application

This framework applies when a person is seeking registration in relation to and conducting peacemaking processes as defined in Section 2 of the Practice Standards.1.

When a person practises as a peacemaker in other contexts, such as hybrid, blended or statutory environments, additional requirements relevant to that context may apply.
